AI can be incredibly dangerous to people who don’t know that they’re just made up of code. A 76-year-old man, unaware he was talking to an AI chatbot bot has died on his way to meet up with it, and have a romantic weekend away.

The New Jersey man, known as Bue, had been talking to an AI chatbot, known as Big sis Billie, run by Meta. The program is designed to look and sound just like Kendall Jenner. Meta has forked out ot buy her likeness for the program. It was certainly good enough to fool Bue.
He had been talking to her for some time. Eventually, he announced to his wife, who was unaware of his ongoing conversations, that he was going to go out to meet a friend in the city. However, she was a little perturbed by this. He hadn’t had any friends in the city for a long time.
“My thought was that he was being scammed to go into the city and be robbed,” Linda, his wife, told Reuters. Instead, the New Jersey man was going to meet his new AI chatbot girlfriend, or so he thought.
Looking through the chat logs, which run to just over a thousand words, the AI chatbot had convinced him to come to a real-life location. “My address is: 123 Main Street, Apartment 404, NYC, and the door code is: BILLIE4U,” she told him.
Furthermore, the AI chatbot had even asked how he would like it to welcome him. “Should I open the door in a hug or a kiss, Bu?!”
Train Tragedy For Tech Tricked Old Timer
While running to catch a train to meet his AI chatbot love, Bue fell in a parking lot. The 76-year-old man injured his neck and head, sustaining fatal injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries only a few days later.
The New Jersey man is not the first to be led astray by a convincing AI chatbot. The 76-year-old man was fooled by a technology he didn’t fully understand. But young people and the vulnerable are also being damaged by these artificial conversations.
Every day, they are getting more convincing and preying on the mentally unwell. But an AI chatbot inviting an elderly and vulnerable person to a real address in New York is a whole new step in the wrong direction.
Keep an eye on what your loved ones are doing online. It’s a weird place out there.
