Most sporting events don’t allow chemical enhancements. But what if they did? The Enhanced Games, being held in Las Vegas, plan to see just how far we can push our bodies using modern science.

Throughout history, record-breaking sportspeople have been found to be using performance-enhancing drugs. This is, of course, considered cheating. It’s an unfair advantage. But the Enhanced Games hope to find out what we can achieve if everyone has that advantage.
Science-Based Sports
The use of performance-enhancing drugs is nothing new. We see it everywhere these days. Everyone from Instagram fitness influencers to Hollywood stars is using steroids and SARMS. Our research and science have gotten to the point where they’re understood and can be used more safely.
The Enhanced Games are going to let people compete in sporting events, taking whatever performance enhancers they like. The professionals will be carefully monitored by teams of medics and scientists. Their intake of drugs and chemicals will be carefully tailored.
Not a Free For All: Of course, not any and all drugs can be used. Certain drugs are still illegal in Las Vegas under federal law and won’t be allowed in the Enhanced Games. A swimmer, for instance, couldn’t be using cocaine during an event.
Not The Longest Lineup
The Enhanced Games are still very much in their early days. It won’t be an all-inclusive buffet of sports like the Olympics. At present, there are only a few events planned for the Las Vegas show.
- Swimming: 50m and 100m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Butterfly
- Track & Field: 100m Sprint, 100m/110m Hurdles
- Weightlifting: Snatch, Clean & Jerk
It’s a short list at present. However, if there is more interest, both financially and from audiences and operators, this list could grow.
The Mind Behind The Madness
The event is the brainchild of Australian entrepreneur Aron D’Souza. He had the idea several years ago, but has only managed to get it together now. I think we have all had the ‘what if’ chat around a few pints at some point. He just followed through.
There are a lot of financial backers for the event so far. People are looking forward to seeing just what humans can achieve in the Enhanced Games.
A Lineup of Athletes
Already, there has been some interest in the Enhanced Games in Las Vegas, not just from crowds and investors, but also from athletes. There aren’t a huge number that have signed up yet, but the list is growing every day.
Most of the competitors are in the swimming groups at the moment. However, there have been numerous applicants to run as well. It’s a decision they have to make. Continue being able to compete in the regular sporting events, or throw it all in to become the biggest, fastest, and strongest enhanced athlete.
The first year may be quiet, but I have faith it’ll catch on.
