A 10-year-old girl, in a desperate cry for help, cut off all her hair, claiming it was bullies, but it turned out to be a rather public hoax.

The young girl came home looking disheveled. She had cut off her long hair and told her mother that it was bullies who had done it. As she slept on the bus, she said they snipped off her locks. She claimed it was the culmination of three years of bullying.
Straight To TikTok: The mother, who goes by the name Andie Rae Castillo, went straight to TikTok with it. The young 10-year-old can be seen staring into the camera, her hair apparently cut by bullies. Her mother uses her for clicks and clout. The story racked up millions of views.
However, it transpired, on investigation, that it was all a lie.
Cry For Help
The child, now the center of her mother’s online attention, had been noticed. As a result, the school launched a full investigation into the hair-cutting bullies the 10-year-old claimed to be a victim of.
- They questioned multiple students, watched hours of footage, and found nothing. It appeared that the 10-year-old had fabricated the bullying and the hair-cutting story. She just wanted to be noticed by her mother, and this was the only way she figured it would work. It did; she put her right up online.
Public Apology: The young girl was told to make a public apology to the school. The mother also typically went right back online and made another public statement about her daughter. The 10-year-old can hardly be blamed. She’s obviously in need of some care if she’s willing to cut her own hair off to be noticed. As one commenter puts it, “This is a cry for help her cutting her hair . She needs to be moved from that school. She needed to be heard and seen & this was it she’s reaching for MORE HELP!”

- Instead of shoving her daughter back in the TikTok spotlight, Andie Rae Castillo made an apology on her behalf. She excused the child and claimed she had been bullied for three years. However, the school has no record of any reported bullying. That’s not to say it hasn’t been going on, of course.
