According to a report by AZ Family, police told the outlet the incident occurred on August 15 at around 11:45 PM. Two pickup truck drivers reportedly started arguing when they stopped at a red light. A Chevrolet rolled up next to the trucks and stopped in the left lane. The trucks were in the middle and right lanes at 51st Avenue and Camelback.
The driver in the center lane reportedly drew a handgun and fired a random shot out of his passenger window. The bullet went through the window of the car to his left, hitting Yarely Ashley Hermosillo, the passenger, in the head. She was a social media influencer who specialized in food-related content.
The outlet explains that Hermosillo’s boyfriend was driving the Chevrolet at the time. He rushed his partner to the hospital, but she died from her injuries.
AZ Family reveals court paperwork which explains that the shooter, 33-year-old Jesus Preciado Dousten, got into a “minor verbal fight” with the other truck driver. He then took out his gun and “fired it in the opposite direction.” Dousten then allegedly drove away from the scene.
Authorities Reveal That Hermosillo’s Mother And Child Were In The Car At The Time
Police noted that Hermosillo’s mother and 3-year-old daughter were in the car at the time. Authorities told AZ Family they were able to track the Doustens’ movements using surveillance cameras. Officers ultimately arrested him near his apartment in Glendale and recovered two handguns from the property.
The outlet points out that Dousten already has an extensive criminal record. He faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and endangerment. Dousten also faces a ‘misconduct involving weapons’ charge.
A GoFundMe is live to support Yarely’s family. The post explains that “her life was taken far too soon in a senseless act of violence.” The fundraiser hopes to collect money to cover funeral expenses and provide care for her young son. “Thank you for helping us celebrate her life, carry on her memory, and surround her husband, son, siblings, and mother with love during this devastating time,” the fundraiser concludes.
