California authorities have arrested a man for allegedly recording women in a Target changing room. Police seized the suspect’s phone and discovered he had filmed multiple victims.

What happened: The Ventura County Sheriff’s office posted a news release about the alleged crimes on September 19. A deputy responded to a Target store on Teller Road in Thousand Oaks on June 5.
- Authorities explain that someone was recording a woman while she was in the fitting room. She reportedly “observed a cell phone camera over the wall and into the fitting room.” The woman allegedly shouted, and the suspect quickly pulled their cell phone away.
- Investigators retrieved surveillance footage from the Target store and identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jack Crawford from Thousand Oaks. Detectives then authored a search warrant for Crawford’s cell phone.
Authorities Discovered Several Target Recordings On The Suspect’s Phone
Multiple victims: Per the news release, authorities seized and analyzed Crawford’s phone.
- Detectives learned that Crawford visited the Target store on May 12, June 2, and June 5. During those visits, he recorded eight female victims using the changing rooms. Authorities are now appealing for witnesses, believing there may be other victims. Ventura County Crimestoppers is also offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
- Officers arrested Crawford on September 17 and have charged him with eight counts of Invasion of Privacy. He is being held in East County Jail.
A hospital hidden camera case: The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office posted a news release last month about a hidden camera found in a hospital bathroom. An employee at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center notified administrators when they saw the device.
- An investigation revealed multiple cameras concealed in unisex bathrooms. Authorities said the devices were hidden “within ceiling tiles adjacent to exhaust fans.”
- Police arrested 41-year-old Robert Shrader, a former employee, on August 27. An investigation remains ongoing to discover how long he had filmed on the premises.
- A nurse at the hospital has filed a lawsuit following Shrader’s arrest. Authorities charged him with seven counts of felony invasive visual recording.
