Some cats like to lead their own lives, free of the trappings of domesticity, but with all the benefits. One cat, who is known as a local at a Virginia Lowe’s, went missing, sparking a search by the cat’s many fans.

Francine the Cat has been a part of the furniture at the Richmond, Virginia Lowe’s for eight years. Shoppers will often see her lounging around, keeping an eye on the goings on there. She’s become somewhat of a celebrity and has been happily adopted by the employees. However, the feline Lowe’s employee went missing.
Time For A Transfer: After eight years in the same Lowe’s, Francine the Cat deemed it necessary to change up her work environment. It appears that she transferred to another store. Rumour has it that she climbed into the back of a delivery truck.
- One Lowe’s employee says they saw footage showing her getting into a truck in Virginia and then back out at a distribution center.
- “We had a whistleblower on Reddit who works at Lowe’s give us more information. They said that they checked the cameras and they actually saw her get on to the distribution truck,” Gilmore, one of the people behind the Where’s Francine Instagram, said.
The distribution center is enormous, and a lot less friendly than a local store. She couldn’t expect the same royal treatment she received at a local Lowe’s. It’s work, work, work in the warehouses.
Social Media Search
The missing Lowe’s cat garnered quite a lot of attention online. Not were the locals to the store concerned for their little mascot, but others jumped on the bandwagon, too. Cats are known for their wanderings, and can sometimes cover miles on their jaunts. But there were thousands of eyes looking for Francine thanks to social media.
The Search Is Over: Amazingly, thanks to the super sleuthing, Francine the Cat was found and returned to her rightful Lowe’s. Despite the distribution center being 1.4 million square feet, they managed to find her and return her home safely.
- “Beloved Lowe’s cat Francine is back in Richmond after a week-long search. Francine went missing in late September after she apparently wandered onto a delivery truck and ended up in North Carolina,” the Instagram page shared.
