It’s key to get your head in the game before a big football match. So, when 49ers NFL quarterback Mac Jones spotted a body outside his hotel, it kind of threw him off.

As his team got ready to play against the Rams, the 49ers quarterback spotted something odd from his hotel window. Looking down from the balcony in Marina del Rey, he saw something in the water below.
Calling his teammates over, they identified a body floating in the water outside their hotel. Shocked and disturbed, they alerted the police.
No Time To Wait: However, they couldn’t wait around. The NFL doesn’t pause for a stray body. The 49ers had to pack up, forget what they had seen, and get ready for their game. They loaded up into the team bus and headed to SoFi Stadium.
- The body spotted in the water outside their hotel clearly didn’t play on the minds of the NFL team too much. They went on to defeat the Rams, despite their disturbing experience.
Police Investigate
The NFL team didn’t just ignore the body outside their hotel. They called the police, who arrived on the scene shortly before they had to leave. They noted that investigators and a coroner’s van had pulled up to the water before the team left.
- The Athletic was the first to report on the situation. “That morning at the team hotel in Marina del Rey, Jones told teammates he was on his balcony when he looked out at the water and saw a floating dead body. Someone called the police. As the 49ers loaded buses for the stadium, players watched investigators and even a coroner’s van pull into the marina.”
As of right now, there is still no police report on who the body was or what it was doing there outside the hotel. However, a police investigation is still ongoing.
It’s either a testament to the professionalism of the 49ers to not let a body outside their hotel bother them or the common occurrence of death in the US. I don’t know if I would keep my head after seeing a dead body.
