While the rest of the world is trying to reduce the amount of plastic thrown into waterways, Chicago is out here dropping the world’s largest rubber duck into a river.

The huge rubber duck, named Mama Duck, stands at 60 feet tall. She will be alongside her rubber duck child, named Timmy, who stands at 10 feet. They are both made of inflatable PVC rather than rubber. I guess a 60-foot-tall rubber duck would have an unbelievable weight, making it completely unfeasible.
Where: The huge yellow bird will be floating down the Waukegan Harbor and Marina. It will be free for all to see during an event at 55 S. Harbor Place.
When: If you’re looking to catch sight of the world’s largest rubber duck, then it’ll be out and about during the marina’s 40th anniversary. It will be our time between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A Ducking Good Time
As well as two enormous inflatable rubber ducks, there will be all sorts of other available entertainment for the day. The event, celebrating 40 years of the marina, will also have live music, food trucks, duck-themed activities, a lighted boat parade, and more.
Big Ass Duck: Mama Duck, also known as the world’s largest rubber duck, is a sight to behold. She has travelled around the world, bringing huge yellow joy to all who witness her. She’s no small bird either. 60 feet is a hard size to imagine, so just think of a six-story building, and you’ll begin to get the idea.
- Mama Duck has made many public appearances. She has been floating from harbor to harbor since 2014, holding onto her title for more than 10 years. She is often accompanied by a small festival that celebrates her huge size and joyful atmosphere.
