What happened: Per an article by Minq, someone stole items from the choreographer’s car on July 8 while the ‘Texas Hold’ Em’ singer was on her Cowboy Carter Tour.

  • The thieves reportedly stole hard drives from a rental vehicle in a parking lot. The drives reportedly contained watermarked music, footage plans for the show, and past and future set lists.
  • Other miscellaneous items were also stolen, including Tom Ford sunglasses, two laptops, and $1,000 worth of clothing and accessories. CNN shared audio from the choreographer’s 911 call. He told the operator, “Someone broke into my car. They have my computer, and it’s really, really important information in there. Like, I work with someone who is like, of a high status.”
  • At the time, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed the car was parked inside a parking deck at 44 Krog Street, and that they caught the suspect on camera. However, they would not release any details at the time.

Police Now Have A Suspect In Custody

Busted with tracking technology: Per WSBTV, Atlanta police confirmed they have made an arrest in connection with the stolen unreleased music.

  • Authorities identified the suspect as Kelvin Evans. Investigators told the outlet that they used tracking technology in some of the stolen items to track them down. Officials reveal they used flock cameras to track a vehicle. Surveillance cameras allegedly spotted Evans carrying bags resembling the ones stolen from the rental car.
  • Hapeville police reportedly took Evans into custody on August 26 for a parole violation. Authorities are holding him in Fulton County Jail. Per FOX 5 DC, police specifically tracked the computers and AirPods. They also found fingerprints in the vehicle.
  • According to AP News, Atlanta police spokesperson Anthony Grant admitted that none of the stolen items have been recovered. The outlet also pointed out that car thefts are, unfortunately, common in Atlanta. Police reminded motorists to remove valuables from their vehicles. “We know quick stops can turn into costly mistakes. It only takes seconds for a thief to spot valuables and break in,” they warned.
