Recently, the handler of a cursed doll dubbed Annabelle has died, and the Conjuring movie has honored his name and contributions to the supernatural.

Who is Annabelle? Fans of spooky tales may be familiar with the one surrounding Raggedy Anne, a supposedly possessed doll. The toy named Annabelle was steeped in mystery. She had become a tourist attraction after it was said she was possessed by an evil spirit.
- The doll was given as a gift to a nurse in 1968. But the nurse and her housemate noticed something amiss. “Almost immediately, the roommates noticed strange occurrences with the doll, and they were introduced to a medium who told them the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle,” the institute says.
The doll was then kept in a glass case for the safety of all involved. Her handler and paranormal investigator, Dan Rivera, died only recently while touring the doll. Many claim that it was because she was out of the box, but the coroner said it was just a regular old heart attack.
Either way, the latest Conjuring movie has paid tribute to the handler, lopping back to the appearance of Annabelle the Doll in the first movie.
Paid Tribute To His Passion For The Paranormal
The director of The Conjuring: Last Rites was a big fan of Riviera and his contributions to the supernatural, including his handling of the Annabelle Doll. As a fellow paranormal enthusiast, he was saddened by the news of his passing.
- The team discussed what they should do to pay tribute. Eventually, they settled on a mention in the end credits. Hopefully, the movie doesn’t anger the spirit residing in the Annabelle Doll, or the Conjuring staff may be in trouble as a result.
Touching Tribute: The New England Society for Psychic Research also released a statement. Riviera had worked with them, helping spread their stories and tales for many years.
- “Dan’s passion for the paranormal was rooted in a genuine desire to educate, help, and connect with others. Whether through social media, conventions, or investigations with local families seeking understanding and peace.”
Now, Annabelle the Doll will need a new handler. However, there aren’t many brave enough to take on the job.
