The Details: Libby Adame, also dubbed “the butt lady,” was found guilty on Thursday for the murder of actress Cindyana Santangelo.
- The NY Post shared that the actress died “during a botched silicone injection session.”
- Adame was convicted of second-degree murder as well as practicing medicine without a license.
- Santangelo died on March 24, and officials deemed that ” an embolism from a silicone injection caused her death.”
Woman Convicted Of Murder For Botched Plastic Surgery
Despite her conviction, her defense attorney argued that Adame is not to blame for the death of the beloved actress. Instead, her attorney, J Michael Flanagan, argued that “Adame was only at Santangelo’s home as a consultant on behalf of doctors who can legally perform buttocks injections in Tijuana, Mexico.
- What didn’t help her case is that Adame was already on probation for “involuntary manslaughter.” The LA Times reports that the case was “over the fatal 2019 buttocks injections that killed 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul.”
After that, Adame was sentenced to four years and four months in prison. However, she was released less than a year later. Her attorney claimed that after her case with Rajpaul, Adame knew she could no longer do “butt work” in California. Therefore, she could not have performed this procedure on Santangelo.
Despite her conviction, Adame’s attorney states that they “will be filing an appeal of her second-degree murder conviction.”
The Future Is Bleak
After yet another botched plastic surgery encounter, the future is looking bleak for Ms. Adame. Granted, it is less bleak than the outcome of poor Cindyana Santangelo.
- In California, a second-degree murder charge carries a minimum 15-year sentence. Add an additional three years for practicing medicine without a license.
- Then, the NY Post shares that “Adame was also found guilty of a special enhancement for causing great bodily injury, which adds an additional three to six years to her sentence.”
- Leaving her with a minimum of 21 years in prison.
