Incumbent congressional Democrats and new candidates have a difficult year to run for office considering the negative stigma surrounding the liberal political party.
Democrats will not be able to ignore the impeachable level of failures that have occurred throughout Obama’s presidency, especially last year’s incidents.
Although Obama is unlikely to be impeached so long as the Democrats remain in control of the Senate, the 2013 scandals that surround his administration could deter voters from bleeding blue this November.
Here’s a breakdown of the five talking points that if brought up enough, could sink a few Democratic campaigns.
1. Benghazi
It’s the white elephant in the room. At the end of April, a Freedom of Information Act released White House emails surrounding the Benghazi cover-up. Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer told Fox News, “I think the Republicans have something here that really ought to be looked at; I just don’t know if there’s going to be any interest in the mainstream media. They should because this exposes a coverup of a coverup.”

America discovered last May that the Internal Revenue Service had been delaying tax-exempt status to conservative and tea party groups per the instruction of its director, Lois Lerner. She stepped down in September and was indicted by Congress last week, though House Speaker John Boehner said the House has no plans to arrest her just yet.
3. Obamacare
Millions of Americans lost their health insurance despite the president’s promise, “If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.” While some take strife with Obamacare because of the president’s inability to stand by his promise, others do not like how it has created a more socialized, government-dependent society.
4. National Security Agency
Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden leaked more than one million classified documents to the UK Guardian and Washington Post newspaper last May. The publishers and reporters held back substantial parts of the government’s national security operations but broke stories about the Obama administration’s “surprise” by the NSA’s growing role in government, including tens of thousands of employees devoted to snagging personal information from Gmail and Yahoo servers overseas.
5. Unemployment
When Obama took office in January 2009, unemployment stood at 7.8 percent. By the end of his first year in office, unemployment had peaked at exactly 10 percent. George W. Bush’s best numbers ranged from four to five percent during most of his presidency. Currently Obama stands at 6.3 percent, still not as low as the average over the last few decades.
