A Fort Myers man called local police out so often that they eventually arrested him to save him the effort. We all have hobbies, I guess.

For some reason, Diante Brown loved calling 911. And, for some reason, they just kept responding. He would sit there, in his home, with his mother, and keep dialing for the police. There was no reason for the repeated phone calls, but they would turn up anyway.
Just Having A Chat: Every so often, a child will call the police. They will be told not to do it again, and it’ll be a funny story for the parents. Most kids learn their lesson. However, Brown of Fort Myers didn’t seem to.
- According to the police and residents, he often calls the police. They will arrive in his neighborhood, flashing their lights and disturbing the neighborhood. It’s a source of amusement for Brown, apparently, but a waste of police time.
They can’t blacklist the man because if there ever was an emergency and nobody to help, they would be accountable. So, they just keep allowing him to cry wolf.
Take Me With You
On one particularly active night, Brown called 911 a total of five times. He told them that he felt unsafe. The officers kept turning up, too, annoying other people living in the Fort Myers neighborhood. Eventually, they got sick of it all.
A Warning: The 911 operator asked Brown why he kept calling with no real reason. He avoided the question, telling them that he had a warrant. The operator can be heard asking him if the police are still outside his house. He told them that they were. She asked him if it wouldn’t just be easier for him to talk to them instead of wasting time on the emergency line.
- In the end, Brown decided he wanted to be taken in. He ended up calling 911 one final time and asked to be arrested. The police were happy to oblige. Entering his house, they found that the man was peacefully sitting on his couch, watching TV with his mother.
Either her company is so brutally dull that jail would be preferable, or he’s just trying to avoid chores. Either way, the police came to his home and booked him for wasting police time.
