CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kiersten Yow, 12, has been recovering at Levine Children’s Hospital from a shark attack off Oak Island six weeks ago. On Friday, she was able to go home.

Channel 9 meteorologist Vicki Graff is hosting the Hopebuilders 5K race in October to raise money for the Levine Children’s Hospital in October, and on Friday, Yow helped Graff film a public service announcement.

Yow lost part of her left arm in the shark attack.

After spending two weeks at the Charlotte hospital, she keeps a positive attitude that doctors said is crucial in her recovery.
