As Chris McHenry drove his car onto State Highway 145 from 76th, he hit a road submerged in water. Quickly, his car was submerged, and it became evident that he wasn’t going anywhere. “It looked straight. It looked like it was flat, and I’m driving and then next thing you know ‘oh, I ain’t going to be able to go this way,” he recalled, while livestreaming in the floodwaters.
“[I] tried to hurry up and back up out of there, but the car started stalling out,” he said. But his car was out for the count and not starting up anytime soon. So, he climbed out the window, got onto the roof of his car, and started an hour-and-a-half livestream from the floodwaters.
Sitting on the roof, he talks into the camera, regaling his audience with his predicament. With his big gold grill and positive attitude, McHenry turned a bad situation into something endearing. Sitting on the top of his car, he simply has to wait for a rescue.
His Car Might Be Cooked, But He Remained Positive
While sitting on the top of his car in the Milwaukee floodwaters, McHenry shows off the damage done while he livestreams. The first thing he does is pull off his shoes to dry on the roof beside him. He also makes sure his wallet and ID are as far from the flood as possible.
However, his car is done for. The water can be seen up to the headrest, and most of the electronics are out for the count. However, he tries a few things and is surprised to find out that, although the horn is finished, his lights and electric windows still function underwater.
The engine is write off. The whole thing will no doubt be flooded, and a repair will cost more than the car is worth. But McHenry, the jovial and hilarious floodwater commentator, keeps his spirits high as he livestreams.
Finally, the water receded, and he was able to get from the roof of his car. Eventually, he got a tow, but that car isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. If you want to help the man out with a new vehicle, he has a GoFundMe set up.
