Woman Sparks Online Debate After She Shares Her Unique Shower Routine

There are a variety of shower types out there. My husband and I often argue about proper shower routines, given our vastly different approaches. He is a morning showerer, to prepare for the day, whereas I like to wash the day off at night right before bed. While I am sure there are people who agree with both of our approaches, very few people agree with one woman’s approach to bathing. An online debate recently ensued after this woman shared her unique shower routine.

The Details: Eve Tilley has become a well-known name after going viral on TikTok.

  • In a since-deleted TikTok, Tilley shared her unique shower routine.
  • Rather than debating the best time of day to rinse off, the woman revealed something many found alarming.
  • She revealed that she showers only twice a week, which has enraged people on the internet.

Online Debate Ensues After Woman Shares Unique Shower Routine

The NY Post shares details from the now-deleted TikTok video. In the video, Tilley reached out to her nearly 200,000 followers and asked them to chime in on how many times a week they shower. From there, the TikToker admitted her unique shower routine.

  • “I understand you’re only meant to wash your hair about two or three times a week, so I probably wash my hair once or twice a week,” Tilley stated.
  • However, that wasn’t the comment that broke the internet. Instead, it was when she admitted that she only showered about twice a week as well.

Why The Limited Bathing: Across various videos, Tilley explained that showering isn’t a relaxing process for everyone. While certain individuals, like myself, look forward to showering and crave the relaxation and cleanliness it brings, others find it overwhelming.

She argued that for individuals with ADHD or mental health struggles, showering can be a chore or an event that you dread.

A New Challenge

The vast majority of commenters ignored the plea for a judgment-free space and left their rude thoughts and words under the video.

  • “Personal hygiene is not a suggestion.”
  • “How are people SO comfortable admitting this online?”
  • “As a woman, this is insane, it had to be rage bait.”

Despite the vast majority thinking that this woman’s unique shower routine was bizarre, some found solace in her story. Tilley shared that several people reached out to her in her DMs and thanked her for sharing her story.

  • Those individuals said things like, “Thank you for sharing, I thought I was the only one who hated it! It’s like torture! It’s so overstimulating for me and tedious with all the steps.”

In an attempt to bridge the divide online, Tilley started a new challenge. In this challenge, she is showering every day and trying to learn to love the process. She shares her progress on her TikTok, day by day as she learns new things about herself and the entire process.

Day 26 of her journey seemed to garner a lot of support and had many of the commenters finally realizing why showering may not be her favorite activity. In that video, she shows how low her shower head is, making her tilt her head and body at odd angles to wash her hair. Additionally, she shares how her shower head is faulty and sprays water all over her face. The comments here were far more understanding.

  • “girl!!! this is it omg how did you not mention this until now? I would hate this so much.”
  • “Girl this explains SO MUCH omg lol.”
  • “This is info we needed at the start of this all. Things make more sense now. That is torture.”
  • “I feel like this is gonna be the video where everyone is finally on your side. I haaaaate the water in my face and I fear this would put me in a rage.”
