But his time on the screen, waving a gavel, is over. As announced on Facebook, Judge Frank Caprio has died at 88. They say he “passed away peacefully at the age of 88 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.” Continuing, the obituary mentions how much of an influence he was on the people around him.

Judge Frank Caprio appeared to be a good guy. He ingrained himself with audiences thanks to his patient demeanor and actually seeing the humanity in those on trial. Rather than judging someone on their social status or appearance, he was known for hearing out the accused. Because of this, he often went viral, uncovering some hilarious stories along the way.
The show Caught in Providence often showed heartwarming scenes from inside the courtroom of Judge Frank Caprio before his death. Speaking about his approach to his job during the show, he explained his personal approach.
“Compassion, understanding, and sympathy really emanate from my upbringing, my early childhood,” he said to GMA3. “My parents were from Italy, and they took care of all the neighbors and helped them, and it was those influences that really influenced my life. Sometimes you can change somebody’s life just by placing your hand on their shoulder and telling them you believe in them.”
But now Judge Frank Caprio has died, and the world is a little darker for it.
