Florida has a Python problem, and now one has been seen regurgitating an entire deer.

Ever since the hurricanes in Florida, the Everglades have become overwhelmed by Burmese Pythons. Some attribute it to the damage done to local wildlife zoos, whereas others claim it’s due to people releasing the exotic pets. Either way, the Burmese Python is a problem in Florida, and apparently, they have gotten big enough to eat an entire deer.
- The problem with the Burmese Python being introduced to the Everglades in Florida is its dominance. It has no natural predators, and it can eat pretty much whatever it wants. They’re laying eggs all over the place and multiplying.
- In an attempt to cull the growing number of pythons, hunters are being paid for their corpses. There are even annual competitions designed to encourage people to kill them off. If you’re looking for a career change, maybe snake hunter could be on the cards.
They Keep Growing
The snakes just keep getting bigger and bigger. If left unchecked, a Burmese Python can grow as big as 16-20 feet and 200 pounds. They’re no joke. Some of them in Florida have managed to escape the hunters.
- As a result, there are now Pythons in Florida big enough to swallow down a whole deer. Although the one caught in recent footage clearly had some indigestion. It was unable to keep it down, and could be seen vomiting the whole, undigested animal back up.
Too Cold: The snake hadn’t bitten off more than it could chew; it was just too cold. The snake, having swallowed a whole deer, then got a little too cold. The Burmese Python is a cold-blooded animal, and digesting takes a lot of energy.
The snake had expected to be able to swallow and digest the snake. But, due to lower temperatures than its home, it had to bring it back up. Scientists hope that the colder climes of the Florida Everglades will lower the number of pythons laying eggs.
However, the snakes are still a problem despite their digestive issues. They’re still easting everything they can get their mouth around.
