A congressman reportedly showed off a video at a government hearing of a UFO evading a Hellfire missile. The missile appears to slam into the target, but it continues moving, seemingly unfazed.
Videos by Rare
What happened: According to a report by ABC, the video was shown off at a House Government Oversight subcommittee hearing into Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). UAP is the US military term for UFO.
Rep. Eric Burlison provided footage to the hearing and also posted it on X.
Close encounters of the blurred kind: Burlison claims he received the video from a “whistleblower” and that an independent review is underway.
- The video reportedly shows an MQ-9 Reaper drone tracking an orb across the water. At around 20 seconds into the clip, another object, allegedly a US Hellfire Missile, hits the orb.
- The impact briefly knocks the orb off course, and several pieces appear to splinter off. However, a few seconds later, the object seems to continue on its course unhindered.
- The camera follows the object as it appears to fly across the sea until the end of the video.
It Remains Unclear What The UFO In The Video Is
Man-made or something else?: Per ABC, the authorities’ lips were sealed when it came to figuring out what was shown in the video.
- The outlet reportedly asked a US defense official to authenticate the video and when or where it was taken. “We do not have anything to provide on this,” they allegedly said. A DOD spokesperson also told ABC, “I have nothing for you.”
- Burlison reportedly stopped short of saying what he thought about the video but asked, “Why are we being blocked from this information consistently?”
- Per News.com.au, Burlison said he was “not jumping to the conclusion that there are aliens coming from another planet.” He later added, “But I’m open to that.”
A UFO hotspot: According to an article by Minq, the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) collects data on sightings across the globe. Per their findings, New York is the place to be if you want to spot some unexplained phenomenon.
- Data from the NUFORC shows a whopping 66 sightings in New York from the start of the year to July. London, UK, appears to be another active area.
- Many of the sighting reports are also soberingly honest and provide potential explanations for the findings.
