Some people just seem to be born with amazing grace.

We are definitely feeling that way about Neal McCoy. The ‘90s country icon, who gave us some of the biggest hits of that decade like “No Doubt About It” and “Wink,” went on Facebook Live March 25 to share the news that his father, Hubert McGaughey, had passed away an hour prior.

Neal seemed to be fighting his emotions early on as he spoke, but it didn’t take long before his incredible faith and grace took over and reminded him of his blessings. “Y’all have been like a big family to us. You’ve reached out to us from all over the country,” he says before thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

The country singer then adds, “He’s in a much better place, we know that as a family, so we’re OK with it. There will be sad times, I know, but this morning, he’s already in a better place.” He then removed his hat and asked viewers to join him in his daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

According to his hometown newspaper, Hubert Neal “Pete” McGaughey of Tyler, Texas was 86 years old at the time of his passing. He was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas and is survived by his wife, Dolores, and three children — Gary, Barbara and, of course, Neal — plus their respective spouses, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral for Neal’s father is scheduled for March 29 in Jacksonville.

In his subsequent “Just Talkin’” Facebook Live episodes, Neal was equally gracious, embracing his father’s passing as a blessing and a welcome peace.

Our thoughts are with Neal and the rest of his family. You inspire us.
