Whoopi Goldberg on “The View” Friday reacted to the Facebook Live torture video of a disabled white man by four black adults that has officially been deemed a hate crime by authorities in Chicago.
Goldberg compared the perpetrators, Jordan Hill, 18, Brittany Covington, 18, Tesfaye Cooper, 18 and 24-year-old Tanishia Covington to Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof, who himself was charged with hate crimes after murdering nine African-Americans.
Roof has remained defiant to this day, saying he wanted to “make it crystal clear” that he “[does] not regret what [he] did,” that he is “not sorry” and has “not shed a tear” for the people he murdered because of their race.
Roof said also acknowledged that his victims were “innocent.”
“No one has the right to do what you people have done,” Goldberg said. “Nobody has the right to take some kid who thought you were his friend and this is what you do.”
“You’re like Dylann Roof to me,” she said. “I hope they put you at the bottom of the prison.”
“I never wish bad stuff on folks, but I hope they throw the book at you,” Golberg said.
It appears that this is exactly what will happen.
Kidnapping and hate crime charges have officially been approved by the State Attorney, and all four of the accused are legally adults.
