Eli Young Band is counting their blessings after a fire consumed their bus on Jan. 17 in Topeka, Kansas.

The band shared video on their Facebook page of the blaze that apparently started in the engine of the bus. The voice of the band’s driver, Randy, can be heard explaining what happened and giving his location. He also apologizes to the band.

Fortunately, Mike, James, Jon and Chris were not on the bus at the time of the fire. In a separate Instagram post, they cast a great perspective on the incident. They write: “We’ve lost more than a bus here. There are memories and possessions that we can’t replace! It’s really sad to see her go. We’re just happy that our driver, Randy, is safe!”

Sadly, Eli Young Band joins a growing list of country entertainers who have watched their buses go up in flames. Just last year, newcomers Chris Lane and Canaan Smith both were victims of bus fires in separate incidents. In 2015, a blaze overtook the bus belonging to Lady Antebellum, destroying everything in the vehicle’s back lounge. In fact, the only thing that did survive the event was a Bible belonging to Hillary Scott. In 2013, one of the buses in Toby Keith’s caravan caught fire, and then in 2012, Jerrod Niemann, Lee Brice and American Young’s Jon Stone managed to escape a bus fire and rescue their instruments. Ironically, Lee Brice’s bus had caught fire just weeks before.
While no explanation has been offered in the case of the Eli Young Band incident, it appears that these fires typically start in the engine of the buses.
