The hot, young country star bid farewell to an incredible 2016 in signature style as one of the superstar performers at the iconic “Dick Clark New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” in Times Square. And he did it with his beautiful wife, Lauren, close by.

Thomas played early in the evening, well before the Mariah Carey debacle, and included two of his biggest chart-topping hits from 2016 — “T-shirt” and the Grammy-nominated Best Song of the Year, “Die a Happy Man.” He was also the only artist representing country music in the evening’s line-up that also featured performances from Lionel Richie, Demi Lovato and Flo Rida.

During the countdown to the Times Square ball drop, Thomas Rhett and Lauren joined host Ryan Seacrest, Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey and DNCE on the elevated platform to watch the ball drop and share the first kiss of the New Year. Somewhere, though, the countdown went askew and the country star had to re-count before he got his smooch.

As remarkable as 2016 was for Thomas Rhett, who also shared adventures in Hawaii and Africa with his bride, 2017 is looking to be even more sensational. His newest single, “Star of the Show,” is climbing the country charts. And on Feb. 23, he kicks off the 2017 Home Team Tour in Saginaw, Michigan with Kelsea Ballerini, Ryan Hurd and Russell Dickerson. The country singer-songwriter has also released a new album every two years, so if he stays on that schedule, we can expect a new project later in the year as well.

We’re counting down the days: 365, 364…
