It’s not the one large action that defines a person; it’s the many small day-to-day gestures that show their true colors. A truly good person will never have to plan or shout about their kindness; it will simply show in the little things they do.
Whether it’s stopping to help someone with directions or lending someone a couple of cents they need for a coffee, it’s these signs that give away a person with a good heart. High school football linebacker Noah Reed has shown the world what he’s all about with a gesture he probably didn’t even think about, but got caught on camera.
As he stands on the sidelines, watching the game, the play runs over the sidelines. Stepping out of the way, the players career through the cheerleaders and into the fence. In the process, one of their bags fell to the floor.
In a simple, but natural and caring gesture, he looks around to check they’re all okay, and then picks up the backpack and rehangs it. It was almost nothing to the football player, but meant a lot to those around him.

The video of his caring act was posted online with a few words of appreciation. “A small gesture meant the world. “It was just a small gesture- no big deal, right? Well, a lot of folks think it was a huge gesture and a huge deal,” the post began.
More love for the high school football player followed. “Small gesture, right? A huge gesture, too… A fine young man who always does the right thing. And turns small gestures into big ones.”
He had caught the eye of the bystander, and his small act of care showed the caring heart of the high school football player. It didn’t take much, but those moments of care are what keep the world ticking over. With small acts of compassion, the world becomes a much nicer place to live in.
