The surgeon-turned-TV-personality is embroiled in a nasty ad-campaign battle with John Fetterman, his rival Democrat in the race for Senate.

While the candidates continue to jab back and forth, Republican Mehmet Oz took the brawl to a whole new level this week. On Twitter, he mocked Lt. Governor Fetterman for having had a stroke, Business Insider reported Tuesday.

“If John Fetterman had ever eaten a vegetable in his life, then maybe he wouldn’t have had a major stroke and wouldn’t be in the position of having to lie about it constantly,” a member of Dr. Oz’s campaign reportedly said.

Fetterman wasted little time biting back on Twitter.

“I had a stroke. I survived it. I’m truly so grateful to still be here today,” he wrote. “I know politics can be nasty, but even then, I could *never* imagine ridiculing someone for their health challenges.

Did Dr. Oz’s Grocery Store Visit Come At A Price?

The subject of produce hearkens back to a video of Dr. Oz in a grocery store and talking about what he sees. The candidate makes repeated blunders in the clip. First, he calls the grocery store “Redner’s,” not Wegner’s.

He explained to viewers that he planned to make crudité, which sounds fancy but is in fact a plate of cut vegetables with dipping sauce.

Fetterman seized the opportunity to portray Dr. Oz as seemingly out of touch with most of his prospective voters. Fetterman quickly released a clap-back video in which he holds a tray of vegetables and dip.

“In PA, we call this a veggie tray,” Fetterman said, holding up one of them as an example. “And if this looks like anything other than a veggie tray to you, then I am not your candidate.”

Dr. Mehmet Oz is the first Muslim to secure a party nomination for any Senate race in the U.S.

  1. Fetterman is a crazy radical and dangerous before and after his stroke. He is not fit to be in politics and should find a job he can do that is totally out of the public eye. Oz could not help what he said because stroke or not stroke ….facts are facts

  2. How sad that a so-called medical professional could sink do low in the name of politica. Who will he be representing? You?
