The Obama girls are no longer girls, they’re grown women.
And they both have boyfriends, according to mom Michelle after the former First Lady recently appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show.
Degeneres reminded Mrs. Obama about the first time they came to her show in 2008 to see the Jonas Brothers, and shared footage of them jamming in the audience.
“They loved the Jonas Brothers,” Michelle said. “Now they’re bringing grown men home. Before it was just a pop band. Now they have boyfriends and real lives and all that stuff. They have grown up right before our very eyes and they are doing well.”

The Obama daughters both stayed with their parents in D.C. in the early days of the pandemic, Michelle said. But now they’re back out on their own. With boyfriends.
According to Essence, 23year-old Malia is preparing to write for Donald Glover’s new Amazon series, tentatively titled Hive. Malia has already landed a number of highly coveted industry gigs. The Harvard graduate has worked on the set of Halle Berry’s 2014 drama series Extant, interned on HBO’s Girls in 2015, and worked at the Weinstein Company in 2017. She’s still with her college boyfriend, Rory Farquharson.
Sasha, meanwhile, is back in college at Southern Cal now. She’s dating Clifton Powell Jr., a 6-foot-5 former college basketball star who had a scholarship at the UC-Santa Barbara. Powell’s father is famous actor Clifton Powell, known for roles in projects like Next Friday, Ray and the TV series Saints & Sinners.
