Heading out to dinner is supposed to be a bit of a treat. The environments are carefully manufactured to be enjoyable. Whether it’s a venue with music or one that is designed for chatting, you can usually guarantee that it’s how the owner intended it.

  • So, when something like a screaming baby, barking dog, or raging argument is thrown into the mix, the whole ambience is ruined. A young man, sick of suffering the screams of a baby, has gone viral for asking the mother to control her child or leave. She filmed the confrontation in an attempt to shame him. The video quickly went viral.

Peircing Screams: In the video, the screaming baby can be heard dominating the restaurant. The man is sitting on the other side of the room and claims the screeching child is hurting his ears. He has asked her to leave with the child in respect for the other diners.

  • She claims that she has every right to be there. Just because she can’t control her baby doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy a restaurant. If he hates the sound so much, he should leave.
@theveeipspots POV: I'm just an overstimulated mom who wanted to eat out 🥹🙃🥲… He literally walked up to me and told me to tell her to be quiet… I said she's a baby he then said… well don you just leave with her I have sensitive ears! 😳😱🤯 #Wthelly ♬ original sound – Vee

Dinner Debate

The mother, Vee Whitaker, has been very vocal about her right to dine. “I can try [to quiet her], but she’s a baby, there’s nothing I really can do,” she told The Daily Mail. “‘I do try to be mindful about having the kids in places, but at the end of the day, I’m not going to say my kids can’t go anywhere.”

Online Debate: But, there have been many online who, like me, believe that if you can’t keep your kids quiet, go somewhere they’re permitted. You wouldn’t bring a barking, uncontrolled dog into a restaurant. There are places designed for parents and loud kids. Their kid is a choice they should live with, and not force on others.

  • “You’re overstimulated, so you’re forcing everyone else to be overstimulated. You wanted to eat out, but there are things you give up when having a child. You’re in the wrong. You need to grow up,” one user commented.
  • Others agreed. “Everyone loves babies, but nobody wants to go out and unwind and listen to a screaming baby. Even the movie theater tells you to take them outside so they don’t ruin the experience for everyone.”
