Kevin Costner put his heart and soul into Horizon only for it to come crashing down around his ears, but he’s not giving up on the western genre and is coming back for round two.

It was a passion project for Kevin Costner. He wanted to make a three-part western film series, drawing on his own experiences in his personal life and the film industry. The first Horizon film was intended to set the stage for future movies, but despite being called ‘part 1,’ part 2 has been delayed indefinitely, even as Costner began production on part 3 and development on part 4.

  • In fact, the failure of the first movie was so bad that some of the moneymen behind it tried to sue Kevin Costner. They wanted their money back, and after seeing the reviews on release, they knew they weren’t getting it from the box office.

Doomed to Fail: As the second film entered production, it was plagued with problems. Yet another lawsuit came forward claiming that a rape scene was performed that wasn’t scripted. The actress says she wasn’t prepared for it. With the previous movie’s flop and the lawsuits surrounding Kevin Costner and Horizon, the studio pulled the series.

But Costner hasn’t given up, and now he’s trying his hand at another western alongside Morgan Freeman.

The Grey House

Despite his previous failure, Kevin Costner is brushing himself off and taking another shot at the Western genre. This time it’s different, and he will learn from his mistakes, maybe. He is now producing an 8-part Amazon show.

He’s somehow managed to get funding from Amazon. Hopefully, he will be able to dig himself out of the $38 million personal pit he dug himself into.

For The Ladies: In the upcoming Amazon series, Kevin Costner is focusing on the women’s stories with his latest western. According to Deadline, he is producing a tale of a female spy ring during the Civil War. It will give voice to the true story of four women who helped turn the tide of the war.

  • The Grey House will star Mary-Louise Parker, Daisy Head, Amethyst Davis, and Ben Vereen. Both Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner will be working together to produce it. They have enlisted the help of Roland Joffe to direct.

As for Horizon, who knows if we will ever see the rest of that series.
