I get that applying eyeliner day after day must be a hassle, but tattooing it on might not be the solution. One woman certainly regrets her permanent eyeliner; however, she won’t get it removed either.

What is it? Permanent eyeliner is the process of having the eyelids tattooed with makeup. Rather than apply it every day, some people opt to have it inked in. It’s typically semi-permanent and will last up to five years before needing to be reapplied.
How it works: By tattooing the lower and upper eyelids, the permanent eyeliner is applied. It takes a very steady hand and is reportedly incredibly painful. But it hurts to be beautiful, as they say.
For Elizabeth Velez, the pain was excruciating, and the results were less than satisfactory. She regretted her decision almost immediately.

Semi-Permanent Mistakes Were Made
Speaking on TikTok, Velez shared her experience with he permanent eyeliner. She had seen a friend get it done and loved how it looked. So, she booked with a tattoo artist and asked them to give it a go. But it was an incredibly unpleasant experience.
- “The pain was bad in comparison to getting a tattoo done on other parts of your body. The worst part was how many times [the tattooer went] over the same tiny area, and trying to keep your eyes still and not flinch. After the process, the results were less than acceptable. She was left with wonky, patchy permanent eyeliner that she only had to cover up anyway. To make matters worse, the eyeliner took a long time to fade. The disaster on her top eyelid was still there five years later.
- “I wish I never did it so I could truly have no makeup on and look completely clean and fresh instead of always looking like I have day-old makeup on.”
She has since warned people not to make the same mistakes. According to her, what people see on social media is nothing like reality. Who would have guessed!
