What’s with Pomeranians, anyway? If they’re not officially the cutest dogs in the world, they’re the fastest.

So meet LA-based “Jiff,” the speediest dog in the world – on two legs. The good/weird news has been confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records. Reports the BBC:
He can run 10 metres (9.1 yards) on his hind legs in 6.56 seconds and five metres (4.55 yards) on his front paws in 7.76 seconds. The four-year-old dog, who weighs 2.2kg (5lb), has made it into the Guinness World Records and also runs, shakes, closes doors, covers his eyes, stamps his autograph, bows and skateboards.
The attention-loving Jiff is even a minor celebrity. He’s no Beverly Hills Chihuahua, but he’s close.
According to a TIME piece (“time piece,” heh) from last year, Jiff is a movie star, having appeared in something called The Adventures of Bailey: A Night in Cowtown. This in addition to a Katy Perry video.
Watch TMZ staffers go gaga over the dog’s appearance in the non-Gaga jam here.
Aww, come on. Just come on!
There’s a reason more and more Americans are substituting little dogs for babies. One reckons part of the blame can be laid squarely at the two feet of Jiff the Pomeranian.
