Dealing with health issues, whether big or small, can certainly be debilitating. So, it’s a blessing to have someone whom you know you can depend on to help you get through the tough days.

For country singer RaeLynn, that “blessing” comes in the form of a pet pup known as Jazz. The German shepherd has been the blonde beauty’s saving grace, as she struggles with type 1 diabetes.

Jazz has been trained to detect when Raelynn’s blood sugar levels get low due to her chronic condition. The trusted companion and service dog even wakes RaeLynn up in the middle of the night if he sees that her blood sugar is not within the healthy range.
“It’s cool to know that a dog is so loyal to you,” Raelynn tells PEOPLE of her 5-year-old companion. “He is loyal to another level. He never lets me out of sight.”
RaeLynn has been on the road touring with former “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton, as part of his 2017 Doing It To Country Songs Tour. And, of course, Jazz has been along for the ride. The dog’s loyalty has not only been helpful in managing his mama’s condition, but he’s also impressed Blake.
“He loves her,” Raelynn says of Blake’s adoration toward the furry friend. “He always says, ‘Oh my God, my dog is so stupid by comparison.’”

Jazz came to RaeLynn through Global K9 Protection Services. Aside from him, she is the proud owner of a tiny Chihuahua named Dolly.
RaeLynn will release her new album, “WildHorse,” on March 24. On that same day, she will proudly make her debut on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” most likely with Jazz right there by her side.
