Ten years ago, country superstar Toby Keith invited a very special singer to the stage. His name was Trevor Scott, and thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation, Scott was not only able to meet his hero, but also sing his hit “American Soldier” with him.

Scott’s prayers were answered just three days after this clip was shot, when he received a much-needed liver transplant.
Flash forward and Keith continues to show his love for children and his love for his country in every way possible. Because of this, Keith was recently named the recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award by international affairs think tank Atlantic Council at a special gala in Washington D.C. on April 30.
Presented annually to “remarkable individuals who represent the four pillars of global leadership – political, military, business and artistic,” Keith received the award alongside fellow winners Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Philip M. Breedlove and Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn A Hewson.
And as you might guess – Keith chose to sing “American Soldier”.
Keith is now gearing up for a busy month of May which will include promoting his new single “35 MPH Town”, hosting his annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic May 15-16 and kicking off his “Good Times & Pick Up Lines Tour Presented by Ford F-Series” on May 29.
