Naude, 55, was discovered by police on Monday lying face-up with “blood on his head and face,” per HITC.

“Some local reports suggest Naude was killed shortly after he stopped on the side of the road after his car overheated,” HITC wrote. “Another car is believed to have pulled up alongside him before two men got out and shot him from close range. The suspects then quickly drove off after stealing one of Naude’s guns.”

Naude was owner and founder of Pro Hunt Africa, a group that organizes hunting trips. He often posted pics of his own achievements on the organization’s social media accounts.

“Trophy hunting – despite its controversy – is legal in South Africa and it was Naude’s favorite pastime,” HITC wrote. “Aside from those details, there isn’t much else out there about Naude as he chose to keep his personal life private.”

Police are continuing to investigate the murder. As of Wednesday, the suspects remained at large.

  1. I believe he now knows how it feels to be shot and killed for no reason. It is sad that such a great animal such as he will not be displayed on some wall just for the sport of it. Fu*K him!!!!!

    • Some day you will realize that hunters are a management tool and pays to keep animals alive and healthy . Taxpayers do not fund animal protection that is why there are seasons and limits on game animals. Learn before you talk these are facts

      • He shoots animals that are already threatened & they don’t need his help keeping the population in check. He wasn’t a hunter- he was just a killer.

  2. Some of you people need to do your homework before making these rude comments. These animals are given to the village people and are eaten. They are very grateful for the kill. It also brings in funds that helps support the wildlife and keeps poachers at bay. If your gonna run your mouth then send your money over there to support the wildlife or zip it. The poor people in those jungle community’s would probably like to smack the Neah sayers on here and, rightfully so.

    • While you are correct about controlled big game hunting on public lands in South Africa, there is also a culture of big game hunting among some Afrikaners that coincides with far-right and racist beliefs. While I know nothing about Naude, he looks exactly like many of the arrogant, unsavory, and angry/hateful Afrikaners I’ve come across in the bush – some of whom were poachers themselves. These are the same people that have thrown Black people over the fences of lion preserves to be eaten (Linda Tucker, “Mystery of the White Lions”) as they viewed preserving lions from profitable “canned hunting” (that does NOT sustain local villagers) as the same abhorrent social change that deprived the Whites of control over South Africa.

So it is quite possible that the killing was politically motivated.

Also, there are no jungles in South Africa!

    • Enlightening. But these are endangered, are they not? It’s not the same as culling deer herds that have overgrown the food supply. They are also sold and the heads stuffed. How much of the carcass is given to the villagers, and do they have to buy it? Is this meat healthy, or diseased? So many questions. I’ve never heard this before, so why have we not heard this. In the US, we see sickening pictures of hunters standing next to death-smiling wildlife.

    • This is what the “killers” want the people to know. As if there is no other food available; no humanity to help with food and needs. It’s a lie. So, as we all go through life and some of us turn out “yeah but”, remember what I say here. Killing animal is not necessary. Building coalitions to bring food to these peoples is another way to say “we care about humans and animals.”

  3. Couldn’t care much about his death…I wish they had not killed him but it is a bit of payback for all these peaceful Creatures..How about PHOTOGRAPHING The animals Instead of killing them..Make me sick..These wonderful creatures (many on the verge of Extinction)not harming anyone…KILLING THEM? for a Trophy…Stuffed/Glass eyes ..SHAME on him…If you believe in KARMA This guy will get it in the end + Rightly so…This guy is a disgrace
