As Israel continues to wage war on Hamas after the terrorist organization launched its sneak attack on October 7th, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar expressed her disgust that Congressional Democrats are not condemning a Jewish colleague or pushing for a ceasefire in the recently sparked conflict.

“I want to say how insane and painful and scary it is to work and serve in a space where we have a member in our caucus say, ‘All Muslims are responsible for this,’ and not a single condemnation comes from our caucus leadership or any member of Congress. How is it – how is it? – that we are serving in a body… serving in a body where there are members [who] condemn us for asking for peace for ceasefire? The most simplest thing.”

The member of Congress of whom Omar spoke is Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), who is Jewish. Gottheimer apparently made a comment as to why Muslim clerics did not attend a particular vigil on October 10th. All reports say Gottheimer said the clerics did not attend because, “They know they’re guilty.” According to a Gottheimer spokesman, “Congressman Gottheimer said that the Members of Congress who have not yet condemned Hamas terrorists should feel guilty.”
But Omar’s condemnation of Gottheimer is just the congresswoman taking yet another opportunity to make a hit against Jews: No matter how you cut it, Omar didn’t come close to what either Gottheimer actually said, or what witnesses claim he said.
As for Omar whining about a ceasefire? She knows Hamas is about to be eradicated after it killed more than a thousand Israelis and took hundreds more hostage. It would have been nice if Omar had supported her GOP colleagues in their calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
