Kermit Gosnell movie campaign just reached $2.1 million

The IndieGoGo crowdfunded movie about abortionist Kermit Gosnell surpassed its goal of raising $2.1 million for production expenses at exactly noon Friday. The now-financed documentary will further expose Gosnell’s long-term medical practice of strangling mothers’ unwanted newborn babies.

unnamed“There’s been too much censorship of this story already. We’re going to change all that. With your help we’re going to make a TV film about Kermit Gosnell. We’ll do the job the mainstream media and Hollywood won’t do. Too often we complain about the mainstream media not reporting the news and throw stuff at our TV sets… now you can do something about it,” said filmmaker Phelim McAleer.

The campaign began March 28 and its goal was met by more than 23,000 donators less than two days before its closing date on midnight May 12. Magdalena Segieda, McAleer and McElhinney are overseeing the process and will soon pick a director and producer for the movie that tells Americans what they did not hear in the news.

“Gosnell killed more people than Gary Ridgway, John Wayne Gacy, the [unidentified] Zodiac killer and Ted Bundy combined. In a 30-year killer spree, it is thought that he killed many thousands of babies,” said filmmaker Ann McElhinney in the promotional video.

Since it was a fixed funding operation, the movie would only receive the funding if they surpassed their goal and now that possibility is a reality.

Three multimedia journalists will be portraying the “House of Horrors” killer in a way they say the American mainstream media has ceased to delve into.

“According to expert testimony from neonatologists, these babies fought for their lives and suffered tremendous pain, but the mainstream media or Hollywood don’t think this is a story,” said McElhinney.

A group of multi-media journalists Friday launched a crowd-funding campaign in an effort to raise at least $2.1 million to film an exposé on “House of Horrors” killer Kermit Gosnell — a story the filmmakers say has gone underreported in American media.

The website, indiegogo, is a platform on which people worldwide raise money for projects ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups to the global war on hunger.

A former Philadelphia-based abortionist, Gosnell in May was sentenced to three life terms for the murder of three infants born alive and then stabbed to death with scissors.

His penchant for blood, however, is believed to run far deeper.

“Gosnell killed more people than Gary Ridgway, John Wayne Gacy, the [unidentified] Zodiac killer and Ted Bundy combined. In a 30-year killing spree, it is thought that he killed many thousands of babies,” Ms. McElhinney said.

Furthermore, the filmmakers point out Jodi Arias, accused of killing one person, had a larger media presence at her trial than did Gosnell at his, even though their trials occurred simultaneously.

“Hollywood thinks the Jodi Arias story so important, they have already made a TV movie about her which has been shown multiple times,” said Magdalena Segieda, associate producer of “Not Evil Just Wrong,” a documentary on the dangers of extreme environmentalism.

The filmmakers so far have raised more than $163,000 with 42 days left to hit their goal. The campaign ends right before midnight May 12.
