Sure, kids these days are obsessed with tablets and Shopkins, but they’ll never take away the simple joy of bubblegum. Sometimes it really is the simple things.

Add a little more excitement to your kids’ day by helping them make gum at home. You’ll need to get a gum making kit to get your hands on the ingredients that give your gum its chewy properties. But other than that, the ingredients are things you probably have around the kitchen.

Your favorite type of Jell-O or Kool-Aid provides the flavoring for the gum, so you can get creative mixing new flavor combinations.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 teaspoons Jell-O powder or Kool-Aid
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons gum base
  • 1/2-1 cups powdered sugar
  • food coloring
