A 9-year-old girl is lucky to be alive after a car crashed through her bedroom while she was sleeping. While most people would be furious, this brave little survivor is nothing but thankful. Now, she is sharing her gratitude for all those who supported her, as well as for surviving a car crashing through her bedroom.

The Details: Laila Breitshtrus went to bed on Monday night, the same as any other night, expecting to be safe and sound. Unfortunatley, that was not the case. While she slept, a car crashed through her bedroom window. WXYZ Detroit shared details about the event and her recovery.
- The outlet shared, “The crash happened on MacArthur Boulevard in Center Line just before 3 a.m. Monday, as Laila and her family were sleeping.”
- The driver is 20-year-old Caris Adell Wade.
- Authorities assume the accident was a result of drunk driving.
- Laila is now recovering in a nearby hospital.
9-Year-Old Shares Her Gratitude After Surviving A Car Crashing Through Her Bedroom
When thinking of a car crashing into you, most people assume you would have to be on the road. However, in poor Laila’s case, she was tucked inside her bed. The crash was so impactful that the outlet shared it “sent the 9-year-old flying out of her bed and into the yard.” From there, the poor child was pinned under debris. She is currently suffering from the following injuries.
- Spinal fractures
- Laceration to her liver
- Soreness in her chest, tailbone, and ribs
In Good Spirits: Despite her injuries and dealing with a car crashing through her bedroom, Laila is in great spirits. When speaking with WXYZ Detroit, the 9-year-old expressed gratitude for being alive, attributing her survival to angels watching over her.
- “I don’t think I would have been able to make it without everybody there,” she shared. “Especially my stepdad, my mom, and my dad, and the angels above me.”
More On The Driver
After the crash, the driver, Caris Adell Wade, took off running. Luckily, she was later found and arrested. Warren has now been charged with the following.
- “Fleeing the crash and reckless driving, causing serious impairment.”
Additionally, police looked at her record and discovered that Wade had “multiple speeding violations, which have put her on driver’s probation.” Furthermore, officers suspect that alcohol was involved in the incident and are now awaiting results from her toxicology report.
Despite all the horrors that have occurred, Laila remains in good spirits, with many people gathering around her to offer support, wishing her a full and speedy recovery.
