Good news A Christmas Story fans, it looks like our favorite holiday movie is getting a sequel. The film is set to feature the original stars Peter Billingsley, Ian Petrella, Zack Ward, Scott Schwartz, and R.D. Robb who all starred in the original film.

According to Deadline, A Christmas Story Christmas, the film’s title, is set to premiere on HBO Max on November 17th. Lucikly for those who can’t wait until then, A Christmas Story is already streaming on HBO Max.
Billingsley is set to reprise his role as Ralphie Parker and will serve as an executive producer along with his film partner and good friend Vince Vaughn.
A Christmas Story (1983)
According to the synopsis for the film, it will follow Ralphie in the 1970s. He is set to return to his childhood home in Cleveland “to deliver his kids a magical Christmas, just like the one he had growing up.” Ralphie is said to reconnect with several of his childhood friends, “reconciles the passing of his Old Man and sows the seeds for the origins of the beloved holiday classic.
The film will be directed by Clay Kaytis, known for The Angry Birds movie and The Christmas Chronicles. Nick Schenk, known for The Mule, Gran Torino, and Cry Macho is set to write the script and will be an executive producer.
A Christmas Story was released in 1983 and was directed by Bob Clark who is known for directing other holiday movies including Black Christmas. To this day the movie continues to be a successful holiday hit with families and is actually shown on TBS or TNT for 24 hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The film celebrated its 38th anniversary last year and is considered to be a holiday classic alongside Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas in Connecticut, It’s a Wonderful Life.
Goodness gracious, can’t believe you didn’t mention that the original Christmas Story was based on the writings of Jean Shepard and that he also narrated it and acted a small vignette part. Give the man some credit here.
