A Pittsburgh store offering items made by local female artists will sell them to anybody…but women get them cheaper.

CBS Philly reports the shop offers ceramics, textiles, art prints and stationery. Women get a 24 percent discount, but men pay full price. Why? The owner says it’s to account for the pay gap between men and women.
Some studies, albeit contested ones, have found that women working full-time make on average around 76 percent of what men make.
One man at the store told the station that he feels “kind of weird” about the discount but that he can “think of so many occasions when the opposite is true.”
A female shopper said that the discount and its reasoning send “a really good message.”
