A 2-year-old is dead after an incident at home that will make your stomach turn

ACWORTH, Ga.– Acworth police confirm that a 2-year-old is dead after he accidentally shot himself.

It happened in the Marina Park subdivision in Acworth, Georgia at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police tell Channel 2’s Matt Johnson that the child found a handgun laying on a bed and shot himself after his father left the room.

The boy’s father and 4-year-old brother were the only ones home at time of the shooting. The boy’s mother was not home at the time.

Police say there are no charges being filed at this time and they are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation.
