Say this much for Danny DeVito … he’s pretty honest. And he has a lie detector test to prove it.

That’s the truth, as DeVito took the test, on video, in an interview by Vanity Fair. One of the questions was who made the better Penguin — Devito, or Collin Farrell.

DeVito, of course, played Batman’s nemesis in the 1992 classic Batman Returns. Farrell portrayed the same villain in The Batman earlier this year. He’ll reprise the role in an upcoming miniseries.

Anyway, during the interview, DeVito was asked “What about this Penguin?” regarding Farrell. Remember, DeVito was hooked up to a lie detector.

“Who, Colin?” DeVito said. “I love Colin. He’s a terrific guy. My Penguin was better.”

Then DeVito paused and looked toward the person administering the test.

“Was that the truth? It most certainly was,” he said. “In my opinion.”

Of course, DeVito, 77, has appeared in more than Batman Returns. He played a significant part in the smash hit sitcom Taxi, but that’s not even half of it.

He’s also starred in movies such as roles in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Terms of Endearment, Romancing the Stone, Throw Momma from the Train, Twins, The War of the Roses, Jack the Bear, Junior, Get Shorty, L.A. Confidential, The Big Kahuna, Big Fish and The Lorax.

Oh, and this interesting tidbit from The Independent:

“While DeVito’s character was killed off at the end of Batman Returns, the film’s star Michael Keaton is set to return to the role of Bruce Wayne in the forthcoming film The Flash.”

What’s next for DeVito, though? It appears he will be playing a college professor in the Disney film Haunted Mansion, due out in 2023.
