Is Disney Demolishing the Cinderella Castle?

Cinderella once said to “be kind, have courage and always believe in a little magic.” Doesn’t sound like a woman who should have her castle at Disney World reduced to rubble.

But those are the rumors making rounds on social media these days. They say that Disney could demolish the iconic Cinderella Castle, which has stood proudly on park grounds since Disney World opened for business on Oct. 1, 1971.

All of the buzz started when The Mouse Trap News TikTok account posted a video claiming that the castle is coming down.

“Breaking Disney news. Cinderella Castle will be removed after the 50th anniversary,” the video claimed. “… This announcement came out of the blue and is devastating, and there are no mentions from Disney as to what might be replacing it.”

So, is any of this actually true?

Nah. Not at all.

Mouse Trap News is much like the Onion or Babylon Bee. It makes its living off of fake, and often funny, news. In fact, Mouse Trap News even admits it is the king of producing “Real Disney News That Is 100% Fake.”

Cinderella Castle Isn’t Going Anywhere

Nonetheless, the rumors are flying. After all, some Disney fans may not be smarter than a fifth-grader. Know why? Because some aren’t even in the fifth grade yet.

Of course, we can assume those on TikTik are older than elementary-school age. But the rumors are flying anyway.

Really, all it will take is a trip to the park to see that it’s not true — and that the Cinderella Castle will still be standing in all its glory as Disney World celebrates its 50th anniversary. So as Cinderella might say, just keep doing what you always do at Disney, and that’s to believe in a little magic. But not fake news.

  1. I remember Disneyland’s 50th anniversary. The castle was decorated like a cake, etc, etc. What is probably Really happening is that they with be taking down whaever such decorations they have done for “World’s” decorations, and someone simply was reading the whole story!
