The reason a 9-year-old was suspended from school is so stupid it’ll make you laugh and then cry

Nine-year-old Aiden Steward told one of his classmates that he had the “one ring” and could make him disappear, just like in Lord of the Rings movies. Then he was suspended.

Kermit Elementary School officials interpreted this as a threat. Aiden has only been in the school system for 6 months, but this is his third suspension. The other two suspensions were for referring to a classmate as black and bringing his favorite book to school, the New York Daily News reports.

Aiden’s father, who recently played “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” at home, is dumbfounded.

“It sounded unbelievable. [He] didn’t mean anything by it,” Mr. Steward said. “Kids act out movies that they see. When I watched Superman as a kid, I went outside and tried to fly.”

“I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend’s existence. If he did, I’m sure he’d bring him right back,” he added.
