Apparently, NFL teams make house calls now.

Taylor Lewan, the (now former) offensive tackle for the Tennesse Titans posted to Twitter yesterday. After dropping the player from their lineup, the Titans also dropped Lewan’s belongings at his front door.

“Shout out to the @Titans dropping my stuff off today. They even let me keep the shoulder pads. 🫡,” the tweet read.

Lewan was a first-round pick for the Tennessee Titans in the 2014 draft. He started in over 100 games during his nine years on the team. Three notable titles in the Pro Bowl between 2016 and 2018. He’s mentioned in the league as one of the best-left tackles in Titans’ history.

A Regular Practice

Plenty of users are wondering if this is a regular practice for the league — to release the players and then discard their belongings on the doorstep. In trash bags nonetheless.

Jared Smith, another NFL player, commented underneath Lewan’s post.

“Listen y’all lol. I’m a class act. Yea I got hurt one too many times and required many surgeries was on IR a lot. And my time in the NFL wasn’t exactly what I wanted. But at the end the day shit happens! It’s a sport. No matter what life throws at you keep your head up high!”

Past Experiences

Smith also had a story of his own about the Seattle Seahawks releasing him. “I was on a hunting trip in Canada when they decided to release me. Lol but it’s all good because I got a moose when I was there. They wanted me to come in person but I was hunting.”

You’d think that a billion-dollar industry could afford a couple of boxes, maybe a postage stamp, but it looks like their door service is equivalent to that of a parent dumping the wrapping paper the day after Christmas morning.

If you plan on joining the league someday, make sure you bring a spare suitcase.
