A trapeze artist fell off the tight rope, crashing to the circus ring below, leaving hundreds of parents and their children gasping with anxiety.

The incident happened in Russia, where Tatyana Zolotukhina, 26, was performing with her husband Sergey Zolotukhin, 34. Tatyana failed to grasp her husband’s hand, immediately catapulting 16 feet to the ground below.

Screams immediately followed.

Tatyana lay motionless following the incident, then was quickly attended to by medical personnel and rushed to a nearby hospital. She reportedly suffered a broken wrist and while her complete condition has yet to be determined, there are fears she also suffered an injury to her spine.

The couple was performing a high-wire act called “Flame” that involves no safety net.

A couple of months back, the Trapeze flyer posted about preparing for the routine, saying she suffered multiple minor injuries before getting it right.

“I worked, I tried. I was on my way to my goal, and now I’m flying.” she wrote. “I made it.”

Latest reports indicate Tatyana’s prognosis is fairly good, however.

“She has a wrist fracture, and possibly a compression fracture of the spine,” general director Edgard Zapashny said, via the Daily Mail. “The circus director is at the hospital with her. The artist is conscious and is moving around independently.”

Can you imagine being in the stands and watching a woman fall from hundreds of feets? That is so terrifying, especially for those poor children who don’t know what the heck is going on. A terrifying day indeed. She is honestly so lucky that she only suffered minor injuries. Imagine how the husband might have felt, ugh a punch to the stomach. I wonder if she’ll continue with trapeze.

What do you think?
