Jonathan Gruber won’t say how much he was paid to call the American people “stupid”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) asked Jonathan Gruber a simple question Tuesday morning and got a classic non-response.

Jordan asked: How much have you been paid in total, federally or at the state level, to call the American people stupid?

Gruber referred Jordan to his lawyer, which sparked House Oversight Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to advise Gruber to offer the information at the present instead of forcing a recess and another hearing down the line.

Jordan then asked the question again, Gruber leaned in for a quick chat with his lawyer and said “I don’t recall [how much I was paid].”

Shades of Roger Clemens circa 2008.
