When doing normal pushups becomes too easy, there are always knuckle pushups to make things way harder. One man has decided that he wants to attempt the world record for the painful exercise.

Setting a new world record for something like knuckle pushups takes planning, training, and a little bit of madness. But, teacher Kim Welch thinks they have what it takes. They have planned out how many pushups they need to do in a 12-hour period to have their record recognized.
The world record is for most knuckle pushups performed in a 12-hour period. Kim plans to do 10 knuckle pushups a minute, averaging 600 knuckle pushups per hour for a total of 7,200. The event will run from 7 am to 7 pm for a whole day of guelling exercise.
I can pop a few press-ups myself, but past a 100, it’s going to become a bit of a struggle. Constantly doing pushups, on the knuckle no less, is an unbelievable feat of strength and endurance. But Kim has faith that they can complete the world record.
Strict Spectators For World Record Pushups Attempt
The event will not be attended by an adjudicator from the Guinness company, but it will have judges. A board of spectators will ensure that each of the thousands of knuckle pushups is to the book. It will also all be filmed on camera.
“His elbow bend going down was a 90-degree bend, and then as he came up out of the pushup or as he pushed up, then he wanted full lockout of his arms,” Brad Fuemmeler, a witness, said. “All of that, plus keeping his body relatively rigid while he’s going up and down.”
Kim’s students will be alongside for at least a part of his 12-hour knuckle pushups record attempt to cheer him on. Their energy during the event is keeping him powered up, and hopefully taking some of the pain away.
He’s been a good source of inspiration for his students. He said before the event that “I just want to show people, hey, you got your job and you’re tired or whatever, when you get home, you can still go after those dreams you have that God puts in your heart and not just let life go by.”
