“He was like, ‘I wish I could be there’ and I was like ‘yeah, me too,’” Jenna Kunkel old Fox 43.
She went into labor in June 2014 and was ready to deliver the baby, knowing her husband, a U.S. Army Soldier wasn’t going to be able to be there.
While in labor, she was having such bad pain that she asked an anesthesiologist to come by her room. That’s when her husband, Joseph Kunkle, walked in dressed in scrubs and wearing a face mask. He even spoke to her before she recognized his voice, and noticed who it was.
The big surprise almost didn’t happen. Joseph’s connecting flight was cancelled, but a fellow soldier offered to drive him three hours to another airport so he can get to his wife.
“The most beautiful thing; I will remember this day for the rest of my life, not only obviously because it’s our first born, but just the miracle of how everything worked so perfectly,” Jena said.
