No joke, you can make Krispy Kreme’s classic glazed doughnut at home — here’s how

If you grew up in the South, there’s a good chance you’ve eaten more than your share of Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed Doughnuts. Let’s face it — there’s nothing quite like a hot, delicious doughnut first thing in the morning.

But if you aren’t blessed enough to live near a Krispy Kreme (or just don’t want to leave the house to get breakfast), Cupcake Project has shared a recipe for the restaurant’s signature treat.

You will need:

Doughnuts

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2¼ cups bread flour, divided
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons superfine sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Oil for frying

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
