The Better Sleep Council says a mattress should be replaced every seven years or so, but that doesn’t mean it should be neglected until then.

Over the years, our mattresses collect the nasty things that come off our bodies, like sweat and dead skin, as we sleep, not to mention those pesky dust mites. In addition to weighing down the mattress, it means we’re sleeping in those substances every night.

So if it’s not quite time to replace your mattress, here’s how to freshen it up. You’ll need baking soda and a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to perform this cleaning method from Business Insider.
